Researching and finding the best graphics card for you can be a hassle and take so much time. So here's our recommendations for every budget!
Of course prices and availablity will change with time. Also make sure to stay up to date with GPU launches! There might be a newer card out!
$100-200
In this budget range we'd recommend three for three different reasons. If you want to be budget conscious but still get a good gaming card we'd recommend the GTX 1660 Super 6GB, if you can find one used or refurbished either on amazon or FB marketplace for around $100-125 it'll be a steal. The RX 6600 8GB and the RTX 3050 8GB are the other contenders. The RX 6600 is a more powerful card being about %15 better then the RTX 3050 8GB, but the 3050 has the modern ray tracing features a lot of games are utilizing now. So between the 3050 and the 6600 its depends on what you value, FPS or features. We also don't recommend the RTX 3050 6GB variant, its reduction on performance and vram is not worth it in our eyes unless you are on a VERY strict budget and you need a NVIDIA card.
$200-300
At this price range you really have two options, the RX 7600 8GB and the RTX 4060 8GB. The RX 7600 is about %16 weaker, but can be found closer to $225. The RTX 4060 is stronger and has the better RTX features, but is closer to $300. So in this budget you have an option to save, and one option to spend more for better performance and features.
$300-400
In this budget we have three cards, the RX 7600XT 16GB, RTX 4060 Ti 8GB, and the RX 7700XT 12GB. The RX 7600XT is the solid budget option in this lineup, its close to $320, but of course performs a bit less then the other two. The RTX 4060Ti and the RX 7700XT both come in around $390 AND almost match in performance, making the a really tricky choice. But one difference is that the RXT 4060Ti has 8GB of VRAM and the RX 7700XT has 12GB making the RX 7700XT probably better in the long run.
$400-500
This price bracket has two cards head to head. The RTX 4060 Ti 16GB and the RX 7800 XT 16GB. This one is really close, with price and performance. With games that utilize raw performance it seems that the RX 7800XT pulls ahead, but with games that utilize ray tracing and DLSS features the RTX 4060Ti pulls ahead. This decision might be swayed by what games you play and if you play them with RTX features, we'd recommend looking up a few benchmarks for this one, its a tad too close.
$500-600
In this range we have three cards, The RX 7900 GRE 16GB, RTX 4070 12GB, and the RTX 4070 SUPER 12GB. The RX 7900 GRE often pulls ahead with better raw performance, but again the 4070 SUPER does have DLSS and frame generation tech which does make it get a better fps. But whether you like native performance or upscaled and frame generated performance is up to you. All of these cards perform well at 1440p if you want a higher resolution, or if you stick to 1080p you'll get higher frame rates.
$700-800
In this price range we have two cards we'd recommend, the RX 7900 XT 20GB and the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER 16GB. The RX 7900 XT has more VRAM and at a better price, and in some games beats the 4070 Ti SUPER. But again in games that heavily rely on ray tracing and AI features the 4070 Ti super pulls ahead. At this price point we think that whichever card you go with it will probably last you a really long time. The decision between the two again relies on what you prefer in gaming, raw performance or better ray tracing performance.
$800-1500
In this bracket we have two insane graphics cards, the RX 7900 XTX 24GB and the RTX 4080 SUPER 16GB. These are two very capable 4K gaming cards, again AMD leading with the amount of VRAM but NVIDIA is leading with ray tracing performance. The RX 7900 XTX is a tad cheaper and can be found around $900 -1000 and the RTX 4080 SUPER being around $1000 - 1200. I predict like before the higher VRAM might help the cards longevity in the future as game textures get more and more detailed. But you cannot deny the fancy settings RTX lets you enable in games.
$1500-3000
The only card as of right now in this tier is the RTX 4090 24GB, a monster of a graphics card. It's the best 4K high quality gaming graphics card you can get right now. Until the next lineup of RTX 5000 cards come out, this is the best. The RX 7900 does meet this card at VRAM capacity, but the pure strength of the RTX 4090 and the addition of all of the RTX and raytracing features makes the 4090 pull ahead.
